We arrived back at Georgie's on Thursday. A group of about 20 of us went to the local Thai restaurant for a great meal (Josh isn't so keen). We then headed to the local night spot called "Shapes" - it is voted the second worst night club in Australia - we completely agree, too bad we didn't have our camera with us! I couldn't count how many times I lost my sandals due to them sticking to the floor :)
February 11th (Friday): It was a big week-end in Naracoorte - Taste Festival on Saturday and the races on Sunday. Jenn (Georgie's mom) was selling her Pasties at the market on Saturday and Sunday. I offered to go and help her while Josh changed the oil in our car at there farm. Needless to say, after Josh was finished he was enlisted in Pasty making. I think he was thankful when Kath showed up to take him to a bull sale (she works for the local Stock Journal paper). I stayed and we made 203 pasties by the end of the day (they sold out the next day in 1 hour).
February 12th (Saturday) - Henry's Drive tent at the Taste Festival: Lots of great food and drinks - we met quite a few great people! I headed back out to the farm in the afternoon to help Jenn make another 200 pasties for the market on Sunday.
February 13th (Sunday) The start of a great day - Georgie had a few people over for lunch and bubbles before the races:
Kath, I and Georgie:
The excitement of waiting for the odds:
Georgie trying to teach Josh about betting on horse races (I think I should have listened to this lesson):
The proud ticket owners:
Warm up:
I had to take a picture of some of the hair ornaments/hats that most of the ladies were wearing:
At the end of the day Josh was up $120, Georgie was up $150, Jen was up $0.10 (I learned not to bet on the horses because of there pretty names ;).
We are now headed out on the Great Ocean Road and are quite excited for our next adventure - it was quite hard to say good-bye to everyone :( We love to hear from everyone and think of back home always!!
